A Legacy of Dhamma & Community

Established in California in 1980, Burma Buddhist Monastery has served the Burmese Buddhist community in Southern California for more than four decades.

Located in La Puente, the monastery has provided a place for monks and lay devotees to learn and practice the Buddha’s teachings, meditate, observe Buddhist traditions, make offerings, and come together as a community. Historical records from the Burmese Buddhist community in the United States document the monastery’s presence at the Grandview Lane address for many years.

Over the decades, the monastery has grown alongside the Burmese community in Southern California. It continues to provide a peaceful environment for Dhamma practice, meditation, ceremonies, learning, and community activities, while helping preserve Burmese Buddhist traditions for future generations.

The monastery provides a place where the Buddha’s teachings can be studied, practiced, and shared. Through Dhamma teachings, meditation, ceremonies, and community activities, we seek to support spiritual growth, understanding, compassion, and a meaningful way of life.

Visitors are welcome to learn and practice according to their interests. The monastery may offer Dhamma talks, meditation, chanting, Buddhist ceremonies, and other activities that encourage mindfulness, wisdom, compassion, and inner peace.

A monastery is also a place where people come together. We welcome those who wish to participate in ceremonies, make offerings, volunteer, support the monastery, or simply spend time in a peaceful and respectful environment.
